Pete's Injuries

Pete’s Story
28 August 2006 - Treatment sent immediately

Robyn,
I read with interest your article in the Performance Horse Yearbook.
On Wednesday I found one of our geldings hung up in a fence & he had been there a couple of days. Needless to say the injuries are horrific.
I have attached some photos I took on Thursday morning & hope you may be able to suggest something that may help. I am willing to pay for your advice.
The horse is walking but has severely cut the legs with the bone showing on the inside of the near hind leg (The wire was in 2-3 cm into the muscle). He also had cuts into the back of the tendons, but hasn't severed them.
There was massive swelling in both hocks & I don't know whether they will blow right out or not - depending on how much tissue dies.
Awaiting your reply, Regards Annette

18 December 2006 - Treatment in progress

Robyn, Horse is progressing well, although the vet would like to do skin grafts due to the size of the injury and the amount of scar tissue that will be there, especially since it is over a joint. Your thoughts please.
Healing process is going really well I think. (I thought so too - treatment was continued)

Regards Annette

01 April 2008 - Pete has a remarkable recovery

Robyn,
Last year you helped me treat my gelding who had severely injured his hind legs.
I recently saw a photo you had used of him in one of your ads & I thought I should send you these photos showing his remarkable recovery, since I hadn't sent any to you after his recovery.
He still has restricted movement in his near hind leg, but his recovery was beyond belief. Many, many thanks for your help & ongoing support throughout a very trying time.

Cheers!
Annette
Pete is now enjoying his life as a pony club mount!
